SJS Interview with Mary Muldoon, Computer professor at Nova Southeastern University , Ft. Lauderdale , FL

1. What impact has St. Jerome had on you and your family?

St. Jerome has been an enormous positive influence. We were lost at another private institution. We found a family at St. Jerome 's. We were accepted for who we are not for what we had or what we could do. A concrete example is that my son used to take medicine and the school where he attended recommended more. Sr. Vivian said that her medicine was a hug instead of a drug. He never needed the medicine again. What he needed was the acceptance.

2. What year did your child graduate from SJS?

He graduated in 2003. I still feel that I am a family member. That doesn't fade when your child graduates. He was here for four years. He was on the athletic teams. It wasn't cut throat. It was a family.

3. What would you tell a prospective parent about SJS?

It's a little slice of heaven left on earth. If you can get your child in the school, grab the opportunity. Make sure to enjoy the experience because you don't have to worry. You can leave all the negativity at the door. If a parent comes here I think they would be surprised to find a small school with a family atmosphere still alive in Ft. Lauderdale , FL in the 21 st century.
