At St. Jerome Catholic School, we believe the best type of learning environment for young toddlers is one that allows them to explore and play in a safe and nurturing family environment. Our Pre-School program helps build a strong foundation for future success providing fun, hands on activities as they learn to recognize letters, explore beginning sounds, understand number concepts, and develop individuality.


Flexible Pre-K3 schedule with three options:

• Five full days,

• Three full days or

• Five mornings (8:00 A.M. until noon).


Pre-K 3: (1) Teacher with (1) full time teacher aide and an additional aide mid morning in each class.


Pre-K4: (1) main teacher, a second lead teacher, and (2) teacher aides. Maximum class size 35




Large, colorful well-appointed classrooms provide a wide variety of age appropriate games and activity centers designed for instructional and free-play learning. Promethean boards and several computers are in each classroom.


Students daily routines center around a schedule of academic learning times, morning snack, circle times, specialty classes, lunch, nap time and outdoor play time.


Specialty classes are taught once a week by specials teachers; Library, Computers, Music, Art, P.E. and Spanish.


A spacious fenced in outdoor playground is equipped with fun, safe, age appropriate playground equipment and is shaded by beautiful natural trees.


Buddy Program: SJS’s unique Buddy Program pairs pre-school students with middle school students. This fosters friendships and co-operation between the school grade levels and provides the pre-school students with help and guidance when participating in school activities and events throughout the school year.


Grandparents Day, Fall Festival Carnival, Butterfly hatching, Halloween Party.


Christmas Pageant, Easter Egg Hunt, Career Day, Track and Field Day, Health & Safety Awareness Week.




Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 Program utilizes the ABeka and Creative Curriculum and supplemental materials built on a foundation of academic excellence and Christian character training. The Curriculum encompasses:


Language Arts development (phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, storytelling, songs, word play, vowel, letter recognition, letter sounds, writing students own name,)


Math Introduction (recognizing sequences, patterns, number recognition, counting, calendars)


Science Introduction (discovering matter, light, seasons, weather, hurricane safety, human body, plant life, butterfly life cycle, farm animals, etc.)


Physical development (large and small motor skills development through scissor work, crayon use, writing work, puzzles, block manipulation)


Social development (development of the child’s self-confidence, independence, awareness and self-control, co-operation, respect for others, sharing, taking turns, kindness and good manners)


Creative Art (experienced through the use of a multiple mediums and projects, watercolors, painting, arts & crafts.)


Social studies (awareness of family, self and others, holiday celebrations, community helpers i.e. nurses, mail carriers, police officers)


Spiritual development (weekly Mass, daily prayer, praise and religion classes)


Field Trips


Pre-K3 student enjoy on-campus field trips such as an educational Magic show from local magicians, or a visit from The Little Farm, bringing a host of small cuddly animals to the school for the kids to experience and learn about first hand


Pre-K4 students have both in-house & off-campus field trips. Students enjoy seasonal theatrical performances at the Center for the Performing Arts such as the “Wizard of Oz” and Stone Soup.


Parent Teacher Conferences


Teachers hold individual mid-year conferences & progress reports twice per year.
